The Gospel According to Mark

This short video should help give you a sense of Web 2.0 and why we blog. Want more reasons? Here are the top 10 (and 10 more why we shouldn’t blog).

Okay, this is a pretty weak connection, but we were talking about all the male theologians in Church history, so I couldn’t resist linking you to these lolcat depictions of Church theologians ancient and medieval. (Apparently lolcat stuff is big on the web. Am I catching on late to this trend?) But, heh! There are some women in the medieval group of theologians!

I got the idea for this assignment from a similar exercise in a literature course. This is due by 4 October.

Using your chosen pericope:

1. Read and journal your first impressions, posting them on your blog page
2. Draw a picture of your pericope (artistic merit is not the point here), and then journal/post on the experience. (If you can, photograph and upload the pic to your page.)
3. Speak the pericope out loud and practice until you have it the way you think it should be read out loud. (If possible record it as an MP3 and upload it!) Then journal/post about this experience.
4. Journal/post about how your impressions and understanding of the pericope changed through this process.

NOTE: To post, follow this procedure: login to the blog. If the “Dashboard” banner at the top is not seen, then click on “Site Admin” in the “Meta” box on the lower right side of the home page. Once the Dashboard is viewable, click on “Manage” then “Pages” then find your page and click on “Edit” on the right hand side.

Okay, here’s a short video to explain what RSS is and why you want it.

As mentioned in the video, I like Google Reader. If you don’t already have one, sign up for your free account and get going with RSS.

This blog is especially designed for MGVHoffman’s course on the “Experiencing the Gospel of Mark” at LTSG for fall semester, 2007. For class members, it will enable us to talk with each other, but we welcome the rest of the world to look over our shoulders. Please join in the discussion!

Members of the class will be able to start new posts. Everyone (i.e., the class and anyone else) will be able to comment on posts. When you start a new post, be sure to “categorize” your post by adding your initials. (This will allow us to quickly find the posts each person started.) Also try to provide another concise category (e.g., the Bible passage, a theme, …) so that we can keep the posts easily organized and more easily searched.

This is indeed a bit of an experiment, but let’s see how it goes!
